Telcos are transforming themselves as the 2030s approach.
Can they transform how they create and capture value?

Telco Value Season is three months of public debate, private discussion and independent research into how operators will create and capture value in the 2030s, culminating in our original research report, “The 2030s Telco Value Engine.”

Timeline

“Enterprises are not like consumers. If telcos can’t give us what we need, when we need it, we’ll find other solutions.”

Enterprise speaker, 6G Forge conference 2025

What does a profitable operator business look like in the 2030s — and what engine needs to be built to power it?

  • Growth in crowded markets. Where can operators create defensible new revenue when enterprise and government customers already have specialists, integrators, hyperscalers and AI companies competing for their spend?

  • Creating value beyond connectivity. If consumers increasingly treat connectivity as interchangeable, what can operators offer that moves the relationship beyond coverage, speed and price?

  • Turning technology capabilities into products. A technology is not a product until somebody wants it and an operator can deliver it profitably. How do AI, automation, APIs, edge, sensing and eventually 6G become services customers will actually buy?

  • Building the operator capable of delivering them. Can organisations designed around predictable connectivity products support dynamic, real-time and highly customised services — while satisfying finance, risk and investors?

TelcoForge’s Value Season is designed to surface the state of the art and where questions remain. Combining public and private debates and research, public surveys and culminating in The 2030s Telco Value Engine, we will explore critical questions for transforming emerging standards into valuable commercial services.

Opening Debate: "This house believes the network is no longer the product”

CapEx spending on the network tends to be one of the biggest costs for many telcos. While this may have paid for itself in commercialisation opportunities in the past, is this still the case?

  • If so, how are commercial leaders translating network capabilities into marketing for services and products?
  • If not, what is being sold successfully and how should that alter what we think about investing into for the best returns?

Attend and share your own views and opinions with the speakers and other audience members.

Launch of "the 2030s Telco Value Engine" Survey

Taking the temperature of the wider industry to understand broader perspectives

A series of discussions under Chatham House Rules to take the temperature of operators and end-users alike

Moderated group discussions of 10-15 people at a time will focus attention on critical questions for transforming emerging technologies and approaches into valuable commercial services. Topics will include:

  • 8 Dec, 3pm CET: What are end-user industries looking for that existing network technologies don’t currently deliver?

  • 15 Dec, 3pm CET: What lessons from the 5G era can improve 6G-era commercial propositions and go-to-market?

  • 12 Jan, 3pm CET: Does 6G depend on government and defence interests for its early adoption?

  • 14 Jan, 3pm CET: Evolving operational capabilities to enable new business approaches.

  • 17 Jan, 3pm CET: Building the security and trust basis for 2030s value creation.
