Siemens and Telefónica announced a partnership to advance digitalisation and automation of the industry in Spain.

More details will be unveiled at an event this week in Barcelona. However, the companies said that they will collaborate to spread the use of technologies such as IoT and 5G, digital twins and AI across operations and productive stages within factories.

The agreement includes Telefónica offering its network infrastructure to clients. Siemens will offer industrial solutions to ensure new production models.

“As a consequence, specialised professionals at Telefónica España and Geprom will offer certification and capacitation training in the area of automation and digitalisation from Siemens,” they said in a press release.

“The main goal is to optimise industrial network integration (OT) and business (IT) using SCADA system based on Siemens’ WinCC OA,” the statement reads.

Both companies will make their ecosystems available to clients. The Spanish operator will offer its Innovation and Talent Hub, while Siemens will showcase its technologies at the Digital Experience Centres in Madrid and Barcelona and its Excellence Centre for the Naval Sector in the city of Ferrol.
