South Korean giant Samsung opened applications for a 6G summer internship in the United States. The selected student will conduct research about MIMO and beamforming, contributing to pre-standardisation and proof-of-concept design.
This is an in-person position at Samsung Research America’s office in Plano, Texas. The hourly rate is $44 to $59 USD.
According to the company, responsibilities include 6G wireless communication idea generation, air or modern algorithm design, 6G Air interface and fronthaul interface design towards 3GPP and O-RAN standards, technical documentation like technical reports, development specifications, and patent and IPR generation.
These are the required skills:
- PhD student preferable or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Sound technical background in signal processing, machine learning, wireless communication systems and algorithms
- Hands-on coding skills (Matlab, Python, C/C++, and others)
- Ability to clearly define high-level requirements and criteria to be used in the evaluation of air interface technology alternatives
- Have knowledge or experience in some of the following:
- Advanced radio access technologies such as MIMO, OFDM, OFDMA, Single Carrier FDMA, physical/MAC layers, etc.
- Simulation of cellular network technologies to derive tradeoffs and to predict performance in diverse channel conditionsMultiple antenna (MIMO) and beamforming technologies and digital signal processingAdvanced receiver algorithms and link-level simulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively represent the derived results and technical concepts developed in the course of the work
- Ability to work within Samsung in cross-functional, cross-divisional teams
