About

The US is experiencing tech evolution along multiple lines simultaneously. As AI, robotics, AVs and drones proliferate, we need a suitable digital, energy and urban infrastructure to support this more intelligent and responsive environment and meet the requirements of our national security.

Into this, a next generation of telecoms is emerging which promises to create a secure sensing and enabling layer that can activate intelligence everywhere.

Given the right policy, investment and commercial momentum these trends can mutually reinforce to boost the US economy ahead of rivals. Without that, the country risks falling far behind, dragged down by poorly aligned incentives and conflicting oversight.

In October, join policymakers, investors and leading figures in the tech and telecoms industry to explore how we can best seize the opportunities available to revitalise the country and key industries within it.

Exploring the policy drivers for and against the coordination of infrastructure for AI, telecoms and energy for a more intelligent infrastructure, and the risks of falling behind. What end-state(s) are desirable and what do we need to avoid? Includes audience Q&A.

This session gives us an overview of the three infrastructure groups; their projections for demand growth; and what is currently planned. Includes audience Q&A

Future mobile networks offer the chance to combine sensing and communications capabilities, something of keen interest for defence. What partnership models are needed between the DoD, terrestrial and satellite communications providers and what are the implications for energy and AI infrastructure?

The synergies between the AI, telecoms and energy industries offer excellent opportunities to improve efficiency and national security. However, there are also risks on the horizon which need to be mitigated – for the companies involved, for customers and for citizens. Join a panel donning black hats to better understand the risks emerging and how to address them.

After a morning focussed on the upsides and potential, this interactive panel explores cross-sectoral tensions such as permitting, funding, federal/local misalignment, and business model clashes. With the audience, we build up a clearer picture of the practical challenges that would need addressing.

Moderated open discussion works through the operational, financial and business blockers different stakeholders see in implementing better collaboration towards a more intelligent US infrastructure. Are there ‘minimum viable actions’ which could be taken to overcome these?

Facilitated open forum to synthesize the day’s ideas into a long-list and then into 3–5 priority action items. Commitments from stakeholders encouraged. Participants: everybody.

Short reflections from a cross-sector trio: public, private, investment.
