April 15 - 6G Forge at EURECOM Sophia Antipolis & Online

We take some time to summarise the discussions and lessons of the previous day.

Including:

  • David Gesbert, Director, Eurecom
  • Jan Ellsberger, Director General, ETSI

We share three perspectives from business and thought leaders working to prepare their businesses for the long-term. What do they see as the most valuable elements of 6G?

Featuring:

  • Colin Willcock, Chair, 6G-IA
  • Javier Albares, Head of Programmes, SNS-JU
  • Kailash Narayanan, President, Communications Solutions Group, Keysight

We explore the variety of strategies being used to survive and thrive into the 2030s. What do they need from network evolution and does it relate to 6G at all?

  • Amina Boubendir, Head of Research & Standards, Airbus Defence & Space
  • Nancy Alonistioti, Chair, One6G

Enjoy a chance to greet old friends and make new ones over refreshments.

The telecoms landscape is magnificently complex, with many technology and business developments taking place in parallel. How does an evolution to 6G fit with these other key elements of telecoms transformation?

Join us for deep discussion with a panel of industry experts and audience Q&A.

Including:

  • Rudolph Moncrieff, Editor, ODIN News
  • Irfan Ghauri, Director of Operations, OpenAirInterface Software Alliance
  • Izzo Wane, CEO, Bloxtel

Enjoy the best of the South of France’s food and prepare for an intensive afternoon of thought-provoking discussion.

We hear from a panel of experts transforming non-telco businesses about the pain points they currently experience, what their plans are and where 5G and beyond might offer value… if we can structure the offerings in the right way.

Including:

  • Paolo Comi, Innovation Manager, Exprivia Group
  • Cedric Thienot, CIO, Firecell
  • Rui Costa, Chair, Networld Europe

There have been long discussions about the business and technical impact of 6G… but could the environmental impact be the greatest argument for it?

Featuring Mauro Boldi, Project Manager, Telecom Italia

Time for a coffee and discussions with your fellow attendees.

Regulators’ plates are full with questions of AI ethics, data management and sovereignty, spectrum coordination and a changing competitive landscape. How should we conceive of 6G within this – afterthought or fundamental?

Featuring Marja Matinmikko-Blue, Research Director, 6G Flagship

There are few levers to steer the direction of 3GPP and its members. Notoriously, only a minority of specifications reach commercialisation while some promising ideas get squashed in the deliberation process. Meanwhile other standards bodies such as IEEE and de facto organisations are increasingly playing a role. What changes would make a standards process more user-friendly, more productive or more responsive to demand… and is that desirable?

Including

  • Jose Almodovar Chico, Chair, 3GPP SA1
  • Andreas Mueller, Chair, 5G-ACIA
  • David Boswarthick, Director of New Technologies, ETSI

After the day’s discussions we ask the audience to decide what they think about 6G development, with a little helpful persuasion from two sets of debaters for and against the motion.

Including

  • Dean Bubley, Founder, Disruptive Analysis
  • Rahim Tafazolli, Professor, University of Surrey 6G Innovation Centre

As we draw the event to a close for the day, this is your chance to enjoy networking and the sights and sensations of the Cote D’Azur

April 16 - 6G Forge at EURECOM Sophia Antipolis & Online

Short introduction by Alex Lawrence, Managing Director, TelcoForge

Detailed session description coming soon

During this afternoon we will examine some of the characteristic 6G technologies. In each case we will explore possible or likely technology developments, ask how these might translate to new services and new revenues, and what beyond pure R&D would be needed to accomplish that.

A discussion of JCAS/ICAS and its uses beyond simply localisation to how it can be a part of services that can really create an impact.

Including

  • Kurdman Rasol, Associate Professor, Fundacio i2Cat
  • Oliver Korfmacher, Director, Copernicus Autonomous Control Systems

A chance to carry on the day’s debates and swap ideas with other attendees over refreshments, or browse the demonstrrations provided.

“6G” can be seen as scary and implying a huge round of costs. However, the evolution process from 5G to 6G can help enable capabilities such as service-centric networking; extreme coverage; flexible spectrum and other innovations. Can the traditionally efficiency-oriented RAN evolution create new business growth, and if so what are the most promising paths?

  • Gerhard Schoenthal, COO, Virginia Diodes
  • Navid Nikaein, CEO, BubbleRAN
  • Ben Coffin, Chief Global Business Manager, Wireless Research, NI

Enjoy the fine food of the South of France while chatting with influencers throughout the industry.

While AI in the network is nothing new, it has usually focussed on delivering efficiency or cost optimisation. Is this the only approach? What would it take to create other kinds of value such as new services or even new markets?

Featuring:

  • Jean Schwoerer, Research Manager Orange & NGMN
  • Hanen Garcia, Principal Chief Architect, Red Hat
  • Emilio Calvanese Strinati, Professor, CEA-LETI

A chance for refreshments, networking conversations and to explore the demonstrations available.

The R&D and standards communities are great at developing use cases for technologies. The challenge is translating this to business models. Can we bridge the commercial and R&D worlds to create a better flow from innovation through to the market?

Anne-Flore Agard, Head of Telecommunications, Capgemini Engineering

Future communications need to be more secure than ever and support national security imperatives. Rather than being a cost of doing business, can this be a source of value? Join us as we explore technology innovation and commercial implications.

Featuring:

  • Antonio Sanchez Perea, Security Architect, Keysight
  • Linda Senigaglione, Research Fellow, ENSEA
  • David Lund, Board Member, Public Safety Communications Europe (PSCE)
